I-CORE Research:

Energy-Rich Biomass

Utilize the halophytes  Salicornia (annual) and Sarcocornia (perennial) and study the molecular and biochemical bases for the nutritional need of these halophyte plants for high biomass production. We will take advantage of the very unique mechanisms that exist in these plants to develop technology for engineering new modified crops to grow on high saline water and marginal lands using salty water.

Research Group:

Dr. Galina Brychkova , Armine Asatryan

Other Research Areas:

Molybdoenzymes, purine catabolism, sulfur metabolism and senescence.

Supported by the I-CORE Program of the Planning and Budgeting Committee and The Israel Science Foundation
