To isolate and characterize novel biomass-degrading enzymes from nature by using metagenomic approaches, and to elucidate their structure-function relationships.

Research Group:

Dr. Smadar Shulami, Andy Sand, Arik Zehavi, Noam Grimberg,

Rachel Salama, Orly Tabachnikov, Tal Zeltzer, Dan Goldman.

Other Research Areas:

Gene regulation of hemicellulolytic and cellulolytic genes in Geobacillus stearothermophilus and Clostridium thermocellum, and structure-function and protein-engineering of glycoside hydrolases aminopeptidases and lipases.
